Before you hear the words, you hear the beat…the melody…the moving force which compliments the bars…the verses…the hooks…she is YourzTrulee producer extraordinaire. A name which literally means: I, Me, Myself, with every track Yourz, gives the music all of herself. Creating compositions that become the musical experience while telling stories through sound; YourzTrulee’s sound is eclectic and promises to give an authentic feel to every listening experience.
The twenty-four year old, was born Shalayna “Shay” Brown in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Raised in a strong single mother household, YourzTrulee knew at a young age hard work and persistence would be the keys to success. Yourz’s mother always told her, “You are a star and no matter where life leads you or the company you keep, you will always shine.” YourzTrulee believes it’s her time to stand fully in the light and wants the world to take notice.
Yourz found her way to music as a rapper with a group in high school called Faces of Destruction. Out of necessity Yourz began making beats to offset the cost of production for the group resulting in her finding her passion…creating beats. In 2006 Yourz began producing exclusively which allowed her sound to mature and broaden in range and style. 2007 brought change for Yourz once again when she relocated to South Florida to marry her natural sound with the hustle and grind of the down south movement.
Yourz prides herself on creating music which will evoke emotional change and when you listen to the music you will feel a change. Yourz produces music which she would love to listen to and through that approach she expresses her passion for the music; simply put she loves it. “It’s not work, it’s a lifestyle” and that statement brings about a work ethic which allows her to spend hours on end creating quality sound. From creating the melody to adding the drum patterns then bringing in the kicks it becomes second nature until Yourz is literally creating in her sleep and then she wakes to create.
Creativity comes easier to some more than others, and the industry is full of duplicates re-producing a sound however YourzTrulee is carving out her own niche and will convince all nay-sayers that she belongs with the heavy hitters and can stand on her own. Yourz has a library of over one hundred unreleased tracks; and she is constantly adding to the library polishing and reworking her tracks to cater to any sound, any style, any swagger.
YourzTrulee, believes her sound will be embraced because she makes music for everybody, the storytellers, the conscience, the street, even spoken word with no rhyme or reason her music relates to life and living.
“It takes awhile for people to believe in the new thing on the block” and Yourz is it for the long haul and the music will speak for her. Through grassroots marketing she will sell her brand and work her dream into a reality because in the words of YourzTrulee, “Everything Happens for a Reason” and the gift of music was given to her to share with the world…so come along for the ride lets dance, lets listen to the music, lets vibe.
