Wilameana Jones AKA Empress R.A.W
Wilameana Jones a.k.a. Empress R.A.W (real authentic woman) is the next force to be reckoned with in the hip hop industry! She was born and raised in Miami FL, by parents of Jamaican decent. For the past few years she has been creating a name for herself by ripping down stages throughout the southeast region all while appearing on various mix tapes, internet radio/websites, blog sites and more. She is destined to make her mark as the next female rap superstar! Her music and lyrics are directly influenced from her diverse background and real life experiences with an animated unique mix of street, humor, consciousness and a hint of soul. This extraordinary femcee saw the challenges that are presented to women in the music male dominated industry but has managed to record five mix cd's and two DVD's that gave you an up-close and personal glimpse into her world. She is also the founder of Core Dj's for Female Rap. Which is a coalition dedicated to bringing female rap back. "I am the Empress because I hold my own imperial title. I had to make major moves by myself to gain respect as an upcoming female artist." She decided to be proactive in shaping her own career and took advantage of an internship with the dynamic duo, "Outkast," in Atlanta Ga. From there she was able to see how a label was run behind the scenes and attended Georgia State University, for public relations, where she learned how to record using protools. After winning several talent showcases in Atlanta and performing as a featured artist in the Atlantis Music conference she decided that it was time to move back to her hometown to become the first lady of Dade County. "I have been blessed to be multifaceted, and multitalented. I'm not the average artist that sits around and waits on people to make moves for me. God gives me the vision and I move accordingly."Empress is definitely a trendsetter with her own sense of style. She is carving a niche and a lane of her own which will be hard to imitate. "I want to be able to serve as a positive role model for the youth and my goals stretch further than being a local success."
